A nautical – inspired dress made from an original 1930’s pattern.
When it was time to make a new garment for my Etsy shop, I decided to re-create a nautical themed dress. It is a style which is timeless, beautiful and was definitely popular in the 1930’s and ’40.

This is an original Simplicity pattern from around 1938 from which I made my dress:

Since I chose a style with the off-center closure, these vintage buttons were a perfect compliment:

The fabric is a navy-blue rayon crepe and white trim which is a vintage woven cotton tape:
